$ Money $

Hello friends, today I’m going to talk about money. This is a topic that everyone has thought at least once. Last week, in every media was the piece of news that the “loto” –a lucky game in which you have to choose 6 numbers from 41, and if you guess them you win money- was accumulated. I played this game because there was $6.500 million pesos this time. With my family at dinner time we all dreamed about how it would be being a millionaire. If I were a millionaire, I would distribute the money to my family; also I would maybe start an educational project in Pichidangui –a place that I go since I was a child- and where there are not many educational establishments. A person that has the opportunity to study at university has to go to La Serena to study. Of course, there are other ways to be wealthy, for example you can inherit money, if this was my situation, I would spend money in the same things, but also, a thing that I forgot to mention was that I would spend a big percentage traveling.

I would like to be wealthy, not because I love money, but because I think that this could be helpful. And a way to keep being a millionaire I think that would be investing a part of the total fortune in different private companies.

Finally, nowadays money is not THE MOST important, but I’m sure that you can’t live without any money. I hope you enjoy my post, and share some of the things I had mentioned.

Have a nice week!

Pollution, environment and education.

Hello dear classmates, today, I’m going to talk about a topic that I like a lot: the environment and the pollution. I always liked recycling and all the practices that this topic includes, because I think that we can’t be selfish, we have to think in the future’s generation.

I think that the concerning about environmental things is a speech that nowadays appears in the newspaper, radio, television, internet, at schools, in every place. But unfortunately I have a pessimistic point of view of the "present conditions" of this topic. Most people –I say this because of my life’s experience- doesn’t care about recycling or buying biodegradable things. And is the younger people that is actually learning environmental friendly practices, such as dividing the waste, the biodegradable things from the non biodegradable ones, using less water in every activity such as taking a shower, brushing their teeth, washing the dishes, etc. These practices, I think that have been learned mostly at internet or TV. Greenpeace is a big organization that pretends making massive the information about genetically modified food, air and water pollution, species that are in danger, acid rain, global warming, etc.

Since I was child I had a concern about animals and the environment, I think that this can be explained by my mother, who is teacher of natural sciences. I try not to contaminate, I try to reuse plastic bags, and I don’t buy things that have packages with lot of plastic things, I also try not to take long showers, and I support environmental causes on the internet. I don’t use bike, I prefer walking and public transport.

Other thing that I have done was an environmental project that included every level of my school and included community work with the neighbors and the city hall. I pretended to create a little subject that could teach friendly environmental practices, and many other things that are a bit long to tell here.

I think that a thing that is missing in our society is popular education, and became aware of the big and serious problem that is the pollution, how it affects people health, animals and every member of our society. We can change this situation and make a better world to future generations! We can teach healthy practices for every living being.

Have a nice week!
Bye bye!

My experience during high school

Hello dear friends, today I’m going to talk about my experience in high school.
First I would like to tell you that I went to the same school since I was 5 years old, since kindergarten. My mother works there, and when I was in 8th grade she was my teacher of the subject of natural sciences. My teachers were really good, my favorite one was Miss Myrtha Sandoval, and she was teacher of chemistry, I loved chemistry. But, in my school when you are in 2nd grade of high school, you have to decide whether you prefer the area of social sciences, artistic area, mathematical area or scientific area. Although I loved chemistry, I was sure that I didn’t wanted to work a career related with that, I wanted to study something connected with human beings, and a work when you could work in many different things, investigations, and travelling a lot. That is why I decide studying anthropology, but the social sciences’ subjects that I had in high school didn’t helped me by the moment I had to choose my career, that doesn’t mean that the education was bad, it means that the focus of the school was to preparing in any area that you wanted, and also includes a preparation for the PSU. The education I received at my school, make me be surer about the decisions I have taken.
I think that my school, can improved the education they bring to the students, by including more ecological issues since the little kinds start going to school. Also they can improve the green areas, that helps students in order to connected with nature, and also they can generate a sense of responsibility with the community, not only the community of the school, but also a responsibility with family, animals, and different aspects of society. As I think that you can change things you don’t like or are disagree with, I tried to start an ecological project in my school, the authorities paid me attention and we had some meetings, but when I left school, the project was forgotten. In other area, my school is every day more technological, I remember that when I was a child, we used to have only 2 computers at the library; nowadays we have a computer lab.

Hope you have a nice week!

Bye bye!

Ken Clarke to unveil plans for prisoners to work 40-hour week

The justice minister, Ken Clarke -the person that appears in the right side of the photo- is planning a new scheme “to end enforced idleness in jails with some of cash earned going to victims”. The reason of this is because, the earning that the prisoner's work produces is very low, and other important thing is that the prisoners spend their days in enforced idleness in their cells, so the prisoners have to work a full 40-hours week. This is the solution that gives Minister Clarke to the problems that were mentioned before.
Part of the prisoners' salary would go to their victims, other part to the prisoners' family, and the prisoners will keep a part of the salary themselves. The important thing of this plan is that Governors cannot force prisoners to work; the only way of the plan’s success is to give prisoners incentives and privileges to reward the work they do.
The objective of this plan is to reduce the chances of prisoners committing crimes again when they are set free. That is the reason why the minister emphasizes that they need “to instil in our jails a regime of hard work. Most of the prisoners lead a life of enforced, bored idleness, where getting out of bed is optional." But the government could not instil this plan without the help of the private firms in order to employ most of the prisoners.

Amelie, an spectacular movie

Hello dear friends!
Today I’m going to write about my favorite movie. But first, I have to say that one of my hobbies is to watch movies. So, if I have to say my favorite, it is a really difficult decision. After thinking a lot, I choose Amelie. In this movie there aren’t a lot of characters. The principal one is Amelie, a young woman that is 22 years old, which is very different from everyone; she is very special, has “strange” likes and has a view of life unique. She works at a coffee shop, with other characters like Suzanne, Georgette, Gina. One day, she found an album full of photos, and decided to return it to the owner. Later she realizes that this guy –the owner of the album- is as weird, dreamer and special as she is. She left him mysterious clues; this is the moment when Nino –the owner-, gets anxious and try to discover who is the woman that is “playing with him. Finally, he falls in love with her and after a series of exotic scenes Nino and Amelie gets together and both are happy.
This story take place in France, specifically the most part of the movie takes part in the apartment of Amelie, where she has a friend, and old man that is about 80 years old, that gives her advises- in a special way- every time she needs them.
I have many favorite parts; first, when the movie starts, a voice describes the things that Amelie likes, and I think that I have the same likes, she is happy with very simple things, she doesn’t need fancy things. Other part that I like is when Amelie leaves in a kind of park clues for Nino to find the Album, this parts is really exciting because you are thinking when Nino Is going to find who is the mysterious woman.
I wouldn’t change anything about this movie. But a thing that I want to bring out of this movie is that besides that has a great story, and has a bit of romance, and comedy, the soundtrack of this movie is spectacular, Yann Tiersen is a great musician and is capable to move everyone.
I hope you can see this movie if you already haven’t. Have a nice week! Bye bye!

Where to go or what to do in Santiago

Hello dear friends, today I’m going to talk about what to do if you are a tourist in Santiago. I think that this is very useful, especially if we think that summer vacations are in about 2 months.
I believe that there exist many kind of tourist, so there are a big variety of activities that people can do. If you are a tourist that likes the nature, or animals, maybe Santiago is not the best place to enjoy vacations, although, Santiago always has options, like visiting the Zoo, or the Japanese botanical garden in the San Cristobal Hill. But, to begin a small list about places that as a tourist you MUST visit, we have to establish that here in Santiago, you must have an adventurous spirit, and also you must being a curious person, because there are many places that even Chilean people doesn’t have idea about their existence.

The top 5 of the places you must visit –they are not in order, because it depends on the likes of every tourist-:

1. The San Cristobal Hill, there you can do many activities, you can do a nice pic-nic with friends, also there is a place to do a barbeque, you can visit the Metropolitan Zoo –as I already told-, and before the Earthquake, you could have a good time in the “Teleferico”.
2. The Forestal Park is a park very beautiful, you can walk over there, take pictures, and if you are tired, you can visit a good coffee shop.
3. Near the Park, you can visit the Museum of “Bellas Artes”, a really beautiful, place that you can visit, and is not very expensive. In the other enter of the museum, many people or artist get together there to show their art. Also you can visit the MAC, a museum of contemporary art.
4. Fantasilandia, is a park with a lot of funny games, it`s similar to Disney world, but obviously smaller. This place if for people that like extreme sensations, and like dangerous activities.
5. At last, but not least, you can go to the Arms Square, there you are in the center of the Capital, you can visit many places, such as the Cathedral, the Post Office that has a museum with the story of the place, the “Moneda”, the government palace, and many other places.

The reason of the places that y choose, is that in every place you can have a lot of fun, you can visit many places that are near, and also you can learn a little more about Chile, and its culture. Hope you enjoy my selection, have a nice week!.

Gustavo Cerati

The singer Gustavo Cerati has been changed of the room of the clinic Fleni in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This apparently indicates that he could be better from the accident that he has on May 19th of the present year. But, the real reasons of the change of room, was that there is not many doctors taking care of him.
This news is significant, especially for the fans that are really anxious from hearing good news about the health of this famous singer. The bad thing is that it could make the fanatics could have false hope about the true state of health of this famous singer.
But also, we have to consider that this news is not as important as the news about Mapuche people, or the problems with the education system, but is important because this singer left an important print in the Latin-American music. Everybody knows Soda Stereo, one of the famous bands of Latin-American rock.

I think the communication media always show negative and pessimistic news, they always show the same news, there is nothing different. That is why the news I would like to hear would be on the agreement of the problem with the Mapuche people, also, that the education minister, Joaquin Lavin heard the demands of the secondary and the university students. I would also like to hear that the miners were rescued. These are some of all the news I would like to hear, because there are many news that comes to my head.
Good bye friends! I hope you share the news I would like to hear.
Have a nice week!

A Country that I would like to visit

Hy everybody!
Today I’m going to talk about a place that I would like to visit.
As I study Anthropology, I always like places different of what I’m used to, so a Country that I would like to visit is Marruecos. I choose this place because I always wanted to learn about different cultures, and I think that this culture must be so interesting and different from our culture.
This country is in the North of Africa, with coasts in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea. 98, 3% of the population is Islam, and the Jewish or people from other worship are about 1%. Other thing interesting is that the language that people speaks there is Arabic and French.
If some day I can go there, I would like to stay for 6 months or maybe a little more to travel not only Marruecos, but also the countries near it, like Spain, Argelia, and other countries from Africa. I would like to live there and maybe do some anthropologic investigations about religion. And also I would like to study the language there, I think that the best way to learn a language is to live and practice with people that speak that language since they were born.
Y hope you enjoy mi preference!
Have a nice week!

Good and bad things of the first semester

Hello friends!!

Today I want to tell you about how was my experience the first semester of this year.
The last semester, started late because of the earthquake, which was a terrible thing. Of the seven classes I had, including a CFG, I had only one that I liked; the rest was very useless academically speaking. Maybe served for the experience and to develop tolerance and patience and learn to accept that I will not always have to like all the classes of the semester. So an important thing that I learned last semester was the material way to explain some social problems or situations. For the other hand, I didn’t have much time to practice some sport or a free time activity, because almost every day I went late to my home, so at the end of the week I was really tired. I noticed that doing some sport was very necessary because it helps you to get relax, that is why this semester I take a class that is called “fun dance”, and it makes me very happy. Though it wasn’t a very nice semester sharing time with your friends always help you to see the positive side of the things.
That is all for today! Hope your first semester has been good and that this present semester is much better.
Have a nice week!

The experience of the blog activity!

Hello classmates! As this is my last blog entry, today I'm going to write about how was this experience for me. At first, when we started classes, I was not convinced I liked the idea of making a blog because I never had one, and I thought it was very difficult and you needed to know a lot of technology.
After creating my blog, I realized that was not so difficult and I could decorate and add friends and was much more entertaining than I imagined. By the time we started writing, it was difficult to choose the topic that I was going to write because every thing that I published, the things I had written and expressed on the blog may be read by anyone and anywhere in the world. As the course progressed I started to like the idea because it allowed me more to learn, and to practice English in a way I have never done. I'm not very good at writting in English, I prefer to listen or read. I feel that I don't have a lot of vocabulary, therefore, the blog helped me a lot to expand my vocabulary for words that I didn't know. Although I do not deny that the schedule of classes when we were writting the blogs was horrible, and many times I didn't like the topics that we were given, also, it happens that you are not inspired and you have to write, you are obliged to write and sometimes even issues that you are not so interested, then maybe something good for future courses, it would be to assign a number of blogs to be written and make it as a homework, so that each one could make it at their own rhythm.
Thank you very much for reading me this term! I hope you have had a great time and you have been able to know me a little better! ... Have a great end of term! and enjoy your vacations!

My favourite picture :)

Hello friends! Today I will talk about one of my favorite pictures. With my family, we often make trips as far as possible. And the last trip, we went to Peru. This is a picture of Titicaca Lake; we went to the part of Peru. I like it because the colors are very nice and cheerful.
I remember that that vacations were the best, because I went with my father, my mother and my brother. We spent two weeks touring many places, very beautiful. This photo was taken by my dad. I think it really reflects the atmosphere in the islands of the lake. There were many Aymara people who dress in different colors, they are very happy and everyone is very friendly. I remember that day was a little cold, and when we arrived we received the guide and explained how these floating islands were made. Because, the place where we were, weren’t really islands of land close to the ground, but were made of a very special way and allowed to float. Another thing that caught my attention was that there were X number of islands, and when the members were fighting the islands parted, that explains why the number of islands varied, because of the relationships between the members of the community.

I will always remember that trip. I learn so much. Not only specific information, but also it was a different experience. I met really nice people and spent a good time with my family. Other thing that comes to my head while I’m writing is that we have the opportunity to climb into the boat that appears in the picture, but of course it was bigger, because we were about 12 people. It was really safe. This picture only makes me remember good times.

I hope you also like this picture as I do.
Have a nice week!

Education in Chile

Hello dear readers! Today I'm going to talk about education, specifically in Chile. Education in Chile is not very good. Many have heard of problems, and the "penguin revolution". Personally, I feel that education is fundamental in the life of a person. And therefore, everyone should have the right to an education, but not any education, but one of quality. Besides this, there is another very important issue, i'm refering to what is taught to children. Many important things are left to teach and I think it's because they do not respond to the interests of certain ruling classes. For example, environmental education and ecology, are not taught in schools.I think this topic is very important because it is essential to establish a balanced relationship with our environment, and many people have no idea how to do this. It is also necessary to respect all living beings, whether human, animal or plants, we are all entitled to live and how healthy as possible.
If teacher teach small children to respect the environment and animals, to care of them, to recycle, reuse and how to generate the least impact possible, they could teach adults and thus be transmitting all that knowledge and the world would be much more pleasant and healthy for everyone.
Let us put into practice our knowledge!
Have a nice week! :)

Thoughts

Hello everyone!

First of all, how are you?, I hope you had a great weekend.

Today I will discuss about all the things that have been happening to me, but, more than things, thoughts.

This year us my second year in Anthropolgy, and in the summer, I was very excited, in fact I read things of particular areas of the career. Everything was perfect, until I realized that this semester was not as I expected, so I started to question wether this was the career I wanted to study. The main problem was that only one subject motivated me, I did not see the point to the other subjects; there are teachers who are not so good, so I was really unmotivated. Actually, after thinking a lot, I realized that this is only a half of the complete year, what really matters is what will you do when you leave university, and that is waht motivates me most, so I decided to develop tolrance and patience and endure the other subjects, and devote more time the subject I like, and deepen the themes tht I like. This questioning career began when I started thinking about my birthday, that was last Sunday, and particulary I started thinking if I was doing things right and is I was happy.

I think it's healthy sometimes question how we are doing things, if we are happy or not, it we are satisfied, and so on. It allows us to stop for a moment, take things with calm and enjoy every single moment of life.

And well, that is what I've been doing thse weeks, wondering if I'm happy with what i'm doing, and I realized that despite boring or bad things, I am exactly where I want, I love the career, I have very good friends, and now I'm sure that I want to be a great anthropologist.

Hope you are happy with your decissions and your career.

Good luck this week!

My favorite technologic object!

Hey Dear friends, today I'm going to talk about my favorite technologic object. Actually, I'm not very interested in technology, because I believe that to communicate with people and have fun is healthier not to rely on a machine, but on the other hand, I believe that technology is much needed, for example it is necessary for medicine and comforts.
When I was at school, was not necessary to rely on a computer for homework, however, when I started University, I was very necessary and useful to me. That's why I chose as my favorite technological object my netbook. The principal reason is because it has many functions, for example you can hear and save all the music you want, also you can download music, and discover new artists. It is not as heavy as a laptop, and it's small, I can carry in my backpack without anyone noticing, and so there is less risk of being stolen. On the other hand, It is very useful to do University work, as find and download books, investigate some theories and authors that we have seen in classes and much more. I can also save and edit photos, and also upload them to my facebook.
And finally, I can chat with my friends and see them through the webcam, as well as talking usng skype and other great computer programs. As you can see, this is my favorite technologic object... because it has many technological objects into one as Mp4, camara, microphone, etc. I wish you share my favorite object!
Good bye!:)

My last travel to the beach

Hy! Today I'm going to talk about my last weekend at the beach.
My weekend started on Friday. On that day, i remeber that it was raining and was really cold, then, I wear my favourite coat and a beautiful sweater.
At 6 o'clock I met my friends in the terminal San Borja, to take the bus that would take us to the beach, Pichidangui. Everything was going great until we realized that the bus was taking longer than the estimated. Then we began to ask and we heard that an accident has been ocurried on the road and a petrol truck has collided with a car, then the gasoline had spilled and caught fire, the sad thing is that 2 people died in that accident and no one of us had any idea of what was happening at that moment. The only thing we thought was that we were taking a long time, because usually the trip takes from 2:30 to 3 hours, not the 8 hours that we have been waiting.
Fortunatly we arrived late but safe, and the next days were really happy, we had a lot of fun, played a lot and ad a really nice time with my friends.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

A useful web site for Anthropology's student

Hello my dear friends, today I'm going to talk about a very useful web site for the career that I'm studiying, I mean anthropology. In this career, is necessary to read many books, because there are many classes about theory. This is a problem, because there are books that are too expensive, and others that are not in the library. Because of that, I use http://verdaderoantro.blogspot.com, to download books. I wish I could buy many of the books that are on this site, but is impossible, maybe until I get a job as anthropologist. In this page we can find a wide variety of topics about the career, for example there are of medical anthropology, archaeology, biology, social theory, anthropological theory, and many more. As we are beginning a month full of exams, I visit this web site at least once a week, to download books that are needed for different classes, and at the same time, I'm arming my own little virtual library.
I hope this site can be as useful as it is for me.

Have nice week!

The sweetest thing

Hello to everybody,

Today I'm going to talk about the best things in the world and about what a day needs to be perfect. Some of the stuff I really like to do are eating chocolate, listening to rock music, taking a walk in the park or hanging around with friends and family

My perfect day would begin by waking up late and listening to loud music. Then, I'd have a plate of lasagna and a tiramissu for dessert. In the afternoon, take a walk in the park with my boyfriend while eating a bar of chocolate. After spending some time doing nothing, I'd like to end the day by going to party with some friends.

By seeing some of these things, you can see that many of these are quite simple, and can actually be made for free. Summing up, it doesn't take much to have a great day.

I hope some of you share some of the things I enjoy, and everyone have a perfect day!!!!

bye bye!

My experience about the earthquake

Firends Hy!
Today I'm going to talk about the earthquake, and how was that experience to me.
The night of the 27th. of February, I Was with my boyfriend at the cinema watching an Argentinian movie. I arrived home at 3 am., I Was sending a message and falling asleep When the earthquake started.

I live with my parents, my brother and a dog in a fourth floor building. The builiding is very old, so all the Things Felt down. I was very scared, but my mother Was like crazy, Really Was she out of control. So I needed to be calm Because of my mom.
After lowering the first floor, we drow with the objective to rescue my two grandmothers. No place was save to be, because we al lived in buildings. So we went to my aunt's house. As we were many, we had to transport in two cars. One was driven by me amd the other one by my father. The situation was very difficult, because all the traffic lights weren't working.

The lesson I've learned is that in every moment, no matter the diffivulty of the situation, we must stay calm, in order to react better and take better decisions. That is my personal experience, I hope that your experience with the earthquake had served to learn new things.

Have a nice week! and thank you for reading me :)

bye bye!
